Following recent changes to departmental responsibilities, the functions of the former Department of Treaty, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, Communities and the Arts are transitioning to new departments. Work is underway to update departments’ websites.

Reframing the Relationship Plan

Acknowledgement of Country

We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors of this land, their spirits and their legacy. The foundations laid by these ancestors—our First Nations peoples—give strength, inspiration and courage to current and future generations towards creating a better Queensland.

Reframing the Relationship Plan

The Department of Women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships and Multiculturalism is committed to fostering a transformative relationship with Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The purpose of our Reframing the Relationship Plan (currently under review) is to support the department in building on our cultural capability, our cultural intelligence, our cultural safety and genuine community engagement practices. This ensures that the voice of Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples are heard, and that advice to government results in the delivery of impactful and positive services that benefits all Queenslanders.

The Plan is designed to build on the Government’s commitment to a reframed relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples  and streamlines the department’s other First Nations strategies, plans, actions and commitments.
